Gallopperiet, 6 July – 31 August 2019. Monday – Thursday at 14-19,
Friday – Sunday 12-20.
Ann Sophie von Bülow presents her collection
of art and cultural objects from the area of Christiania with the exhibition 'The Permanent Collection' at the Gallopperiet - also called the Stadens Museum for Kunst. The exhibition is a
simulation of what could form the core of an art or
local history collection for Fristaden.
Ideas about freedom, women's struggle, free hash, social and political changes,
are the basis for the selection - in an attempt to understand and get closer
to what collective identity is and how it can take three-dimensional
form, and describe the intangible reality of the past.
The workers each carry their own special stories with them, and are
woven together in a web of meanings at the exhibition, as a form of shared
memory.
Objects, all of which have historical significance, are mainly privately owned
or belong to Christiania's archive, and are exceptionally loaned for
this occasion.
Works by Skrot Anders, Svensker Anna, Annelise Bock, Ingrid Borum, Kai
Christensen, Ann Suzette Sadolin, Solvognens Kvinder, Jesper Sølling,
Hannah West, and more, are shown in a museum-like distilled image, as
documentation of the cultural activism in and around Fristaden .
Ann Sophie von Bülow (b.1987) is a trained visual artist from the Royal
Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2016), and founder of the Cosmic Hierarchy
(2018-).

Ann Sophie von Bülow presents 'The Permanent Collection' at Gallopperiet –
aka Stadens Museum for Kunst. The exhibition is a collection of art and
cultural artefacts from the Christiania area. The show is a simulated art
and cultural heritage collection, in what could be a future museum for the
Freetown Christiania.
Freedom, women's rights, legalization of cannabis, political and social
change, is the foundation for the selection. In an attempt to constitute a
broad understanding of what it means to consider collective identity, how
this shapes into 3-dimensional form and describes the past intangible
reality.
The works carry significant narratives interwoven in the fabric of meaning
as a collective identity.
The objects shown all have historical significance. From private collections
and Christianias Archive, these are rare and exceptional loans for this
occasion.
Works by Skrot Anders, Svensker Anna, Annelise Bock, Ingrid Borum, Kai
Christensen, Ann Suzette Sadolin, Solvognens Kvinder, Jesper Sølling,
Hannah West among others, is shown as a distilled image, and as a
documentation of the cultural activism in and around the Freetown.
