The many faces of substance abuse

Leah Robb / GALLOPPERIE AT CHRISTIANIA / 3rd – 25th November 2018 / Opening Saturday 3rd November at 4-7pm / Everyone is welcome!

...are you a relative or know of an addict?

Well, who doesn't? In a district which, right from the dawn of time, has been swimming in addicts. First from the scourge of alcohol. Later, from the beginning of the 70s, in connection with the hash.

So it is therefore obvious that it is precisely at the Stadens Museum for Art, Gallopperiet that the Danish/Scottish visual artist Leah Robb on 3 November at 16-19 opens his exhibition, co-financed by Christianshavn's Local Committee, as well as Christiania's Cultural Policy Foundation. With paintings, installations, music, films, lectures and dialogue, the exhibition gives an honest look behind the facades of abuse. The focus is on having a drug addiction, as well as being dependent on it.

In the intimate Dialogkrogen space, which is open every day, visitors can contribute orally, in writing or in a creative way and thus help develop the exhibition along the way. You can create paintings in frames, listen to music by Scotsman Steph MacLeod, who has been through and recovered from alcohol addiction. Wishes and prayers can be placed and weighed in a mess, made from old bicycle parts.
Would you like to meet the artist? Then come to reception or on Tuesdays or Fridays.

Are you just curious? So show up on a weekday. The offers are many. At least one of them should be calling you. No matter who you are. Abuse is many things, and you can always learn more about it, yourself and others.
