Finn Thorstein: 'The abstract' at the Gallopperiet

The exhibition " the abstract " is a result of some successful abstract paintings that were produced at the end of 2015 and were then
followed up by what became a series of uniform formats on a veneer base. Since 1984, my abstract paintings have been created side by side with my epics, without me attaching any particular importance to them. This time they deserve an exhibition of their own.
To add a little more spice to the exhibition, I also show examples of "tile paintings", i.e. smaller square paintings intended to be included in patterns.
When I moved to Christiania in February 1977, I brought a collection of my best collages from home in Spain. The collages were exhibited at the Gallopperiet in autumn '77, so the exhibition "the abstract" is in two ways a 40th anniversary.
It is also a "birthday exhibition", as I turn 75 during the exhibition period. The paintings are for sale. Welcome.

About Finn Thorstein
I am an independent and self-taught artist, albeit with parents who were both professional visual artists.
Qualified civil economist with graduation from the School of Economics, which HD' is in marketing. Vocational education in market analysis and advertising.
In May '68 I left a promising career to join the student uprising in Paris. There was no turning back and after a disappointing stay at Kbh's University I chose to focus on visual arts. After 3 exhibitions and several wonderful years in Mallorca, I returned home to Copenhagen in 1976. The children had to go to Danish school, otherwise we would probably have stayed.
It was such a depressing decision that I had to move to Christiania in the spring of '77. There were the rich opportunities for creative expression: radio, sculpture, mosaic, photography, screen printing, theatre, text. construction, exhibition organizer (Gallopperiet)...
In '84 sets up the painting workshop around Laurie Grundt's sketch school. Extensive exhibition business in cafes, companies and other public spaces.
Member of the artist group "SYNTESE". Joint exhibitions with CA artists in Amsterdam, Bologna, Bergen, Farum, Charlottenborg and with "CHRISTIANIA IN ART" in Budapest, Vilnius, Dakar...
