Christiania Impressions by Marios Orozco

The Danish-Mexican hip-hop artist Marios Orozco recently returned to painting and in May is showing a selection of a rousing production of Christiania prospects from 2011-2012.

There are already a small handful of painters who depict Christiania's construction and local charm, especially concentrating around Christiania downtown. Marios Orozco has instead been on foot around the ``Lake'', with the paint box under his arm.

He depicts today's wild Voldnatur, the reeds, the swans and the self-built houses that are reflected in the Voldgraven.
His expression is influenced by the special light produced over Fristaden by the many surrounding water bodies. And it takes place in a psychedelic impressionism, where his Mexican roots clearly shine through.

Marios Orozco is, among other things, educated at The Boston Academy of Arts.
He has traveled widely in India, Mexico and Indonesia - lived in Christiania for 30 years - was a co-founder of the hip-hop band URD and is well known in the Danish music scene.
He has made music with J-ro, Tash and E Swift from Alkaholiks, George Cole, Warren G, Natasha, Karen,Yukmouth, Nappion, Blutoof, Chin Ono, Kaka, Mike Riżwa, Bens, MFS and many others…
