FRESH ART – FRESH AIR
YOUNG ARTISTS FROM THE MILAN ACADEMY OF ARTS VISIT CHRISTIANIA IN CONNECTION WITH THE CITY'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY
A WHOLE NEW DIALOGUE BETWEEN ART AND SUSTAINABLE INDOOR CLIMATE
The global art world has now joined the fight for a cleaner and more sustainable planet. The city of Milan is legendary for its air pollution – which is why it is no wonder that the Milan exhibition FRESH ART- FRESH AIR at the City Museum of Art, Christiania, is launching the Italian air purification product 'This is Coover' in connection with the upcoming exhibition.
Young artists from Milan's famous Art Academy, Accademia di Belli Arti di Brera, show the hanging `FRESH ART- FRESH AIR' at the Gallopperiet, City Museum of Art, Christiania, in the period 23 July-12. August. The exhibition is curated by Professor of Contemporary Art History Andrea del Guercio / Milano Art Academy and is shown in parallel with an exhibition by the same group of artists in Calabria's Castello Corigliano-Rossano.
The artists' situation in Italy during the Covid-19 crisis has been extremely depressing and gradually they have sensed that art is meaningless in Italian society. Which is precisely reflected in the title of the simultaneous exhibition in Calabria: Artisti:non essentia.
However, as mentioned, the artists have collaborated with the environmental company ``This is Coover'', whose organic products clean pollution out of the interior through an ecological air-purifying filter. The company simply prints art on this textile. The air quality in the exhibition hall is measured at the beginning and end of the exhibition.
Having your works printed on paper or canvas is not unusual. But this special material is ecological and environmentally purifying and has given the young artists a belief that their art/profession, in addition to the artistic and spiritual value, can contribute to the green wave that the world is aware that it needs. These thoughts are of course completely in line with Christiania's eco-conscious environmental policy.
At the exhibition at Christiania, the artist Alfredo Romio shows several large paintings printed on this air-purifying material. The other participants in the exhibition are Nicolas Steiner, Sebastiano Branca, Giovanni De Luca, Lea Russo, Arianna De Stefani, Davide Meroni, Gabriele Barbagallo, Giulia Moretti, Tommaso Lugoboni, Luming Zhang, Gabriele Artusio and Leonardo Gambini.
During the exhibition period, there is also an interaction between Danish and resident Italian musicians, jazz/rock, during the three weekends during the FRESH ART – FRESH AIR group's visit to the Gallopperiet, Stadens Museum.
Music: Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 16-18
