Four contemporary artists living in Odense are exhibiting fabulous works in the Gallopperiet at Christiana, which
are about ways to unite key and keyhole. In painting, bronze sculpture and illustration,
the group interprets the relationship and presence between people, animals and nature. – Or lack of presence.
In the works, the artists shed light on both light and shadow sides, interpreted in different
momentary experiences. The inspiration comes from all sides: from the living room, travel, Greek mythology and
to cyberpunk. At the exhibition, a common denominator in the group's works is serious bias and
the exhibition describes our contemporary times, well united with love for the creatures and for the universe we are
a part of. This is the artists' wish with this exhibition – not to find a solution, but to ask
questions and leave the answer open to the viewers.
Artists are: Heidi Vandal, Gitte Skovmand, Søren Lilliendal Hansen and Simone Berrini.
The four artists know each other from the art environment on Funen. Søren Lilliendal is head molder at Jens
Galschiøt and together with Gitte Skovmand and Simone Berrini he is associated with Gäste Atelier
Hollufgård, an art environment for professional artists. Simone is an Italian artist, living in Odense
for periods of time. Heidi Vandal and Gitte Skovmand are art teachers in UngOdense. Everyone has worked
with art for many years, but this is the first time the group is exhibiting together. In this connection, they have
found a good common thread of bias in which the works complement each other.
Simone Berrini: Trained artist in Italy and musician. Currently living in Denmark. My exploration
in art focuses on the relationship between the animal kingdom and humanity in modern times. With sarcasm
and irony, I imagine them as an "o er" for the behavior of modern man, in that they are
dressed up instead of, like people, having technological "gadgets" on their bodies. I always attach
great importance to my art titles, using puns to support the subject of the work. My works are
mainly created with acrylic or charcoal on canvas/wood. www.simoneberrini.com
Gitte Skovmand: Odensean visual artist/ knitting graffiti artist and teacher of visual arts.
I primarily work with acrylic painting, and my field of investigation is in the interaction between people
or the lack of interaction in private and public space. I describe the moment with loneliness,
twoness and the whole pack together in a feeling of home. B.la reflections from the sofa, and what do we
spend all those hours doing while we sit there? And about the intense meeting in the public space, with a link to
the past and the present. Member of Guest Studio Hollufgård. www.gitteskovmand.dk
Heidi Vandal: Educated at the Design Seminar. I work i.a. with painting, illustration,
design, decoration and teaching. My pictures are usually painted with acrylic on board and the motifs
are often women, patterns, birds and nature. In my latest works, I try to portray the modern
woman in her attempt to live up to her own and the world's unreasonable demands. Right where the facade is
crumbling and you feel most vulnerable. Where you let go of control and react
instinctively, and perhaps it's even nicer than when you make an effort to do everything right.

Søren Lilliendal Hansen : I am a sculptor, head molder at Jens Galschiøt, and with my feet firmly
planted in my own wonderful cartoon-inspired image universe. A universe populated by
strange animal hybrids, tentacled lady monsters and two-headed freaks. I find my inspiration
in everything from Greek mythology, weird biology and cyberpunk. I have a completely hidden past as a cartoonist
- and therefore have a huge interest in animation. Which clearly leaves its mark on my
art. www.lilliendalart.com
